If you want a versatile, all purpose client for MUDs and MUSHes, then
believe it or not, MUSHClient is just the front-end you've been looking for. Despite its
name, MUSHClient is a general purpose and high-featured client that'll connect you to just
about any type of Multi-User Dungeon (MUD) and MUSH (Multi-User Shared Hallucination) out
there: MUD, MUSH, TinyMUD, TinyMUSH, LpMUD, AberMUD, PennMUSH, and most of their
permutations you're ever likely to find.
Now in its first non-beta release, version 2.10 MUSHclient has improved the ergonomics of
some of its control buttons, but the client continues to offer a feature set you won't
find even on some of the more expensive ones out there.
You don't have to know all the keyboard commands, since the most common ones are
represented on the toolbar and command menu. MUSHClient supports multiple open worlds,
variable fonts, cut & paste, ANSI colors, and you can even display (to keep from going
nuts) a different color for chats, pages, whispers, and mail notification dialog on your
window. It recognizes Telnet escape sequences, handles logging, up to 30 user definable
macros, and the Find will look for aliases, triggers, timers, and more. Whether the game
you want is on Telnet or Internet, MUSHClient will accept your connection type and
game/world configuration.
This version has a vertical scrollbar to make entry of long commands easier. A
"Do" button is added to the command history dialog box so you can execute a
previously entered command, without closing the dialog box & losing what you typed in
the open window!
If you're updating from an earlier version of MUSHClient to version 2.10, it will read
your existing world (and alias, trigger, etc,) files you've made. No re-entering needed.
The author has an open door policy on user reports, so if you have comments or bug
reports, you'll probably see an immediate fix to it. The reporting list is located at:
