file attachments, replying to incoming messages, automatically deleting email, forwarding
e-mail, launching an external program, extracting data and more. When the program starts
you get a window with a Setup button, Start button (program starts in active mode so this
button is used only to put it in active mode again), Stop button (suspends operation until
you click Start), Reset button(clears cache and restarts operation), Exit b The Setup
button is where you start to put in all the agents and information to make the program
work for you. I will skip the Mail Agents tab for now and get back to it later. The
Settings tab is where you put the information to be used in Outgoing Messages. The fields
include Name (optional), Organization (optional), E-mail Address (required), Reply-To
(optional), Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server, Check Incoming Mail Every __ minutes, Ignore
Message Larger Than __ kilobytes, and Log All Events to a File. Now back to the Mail
Agents tab. This is where you turn RSVP into a powerful program instead of a simple mail
checker. The buttons here are self explanatory so I will only get into what happens when
you click the Add button. The first tab is General. The first thing you do here is name
the agent this can be anything you choose. Next is the criteria the message must meet to
run the agent. The choices are AND/OR; Date, Message, Recipient, Reply-To, Sender, or
Subject; contains, does not contain, is, !can be what ever you type in. The final tab is
Actions which is where you tell RSVP what to do if it matches your criteria. Your choices
here are Delete Incoming Message, Forward Incoming Message, Play a sound, Run an External
Program, Save Message Data to a file, and Send Outgoing Message. Each choice will bring up
a window where you can enter the appropriate information. You can perform more than one
action on the message also.
This can be a powerful program and has an easy to use interface to customize it to your
needs. You have to have Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to read the manual because it is a
.pdf file. The shareware version comes with a 30 day evaluation.
