As Murphy's Law goes I find this program after my
motherboard went haywire and corrupted my hard drive. This
program would have made it a lot easier to rebuild my hard drive.
It can either copy all *.ini, *.dat, *.inf, the autoexec.bat and
the config.sys. In other words all windows critical files. You
also have the option of adding 5 additional extensions to be
backed up. The default is setup to copy the critical files to
drive A so even if you are a novice you can use this program.
Just stick a disk in drive A and click start. The interface is
easy to use and the help file is excellent so it is easy to set
the options.
Besides backing up the files this program will also restore them.
The zip feature spans multiple directories and gives you a choice
of adding or updating. If ever needed the files will be restored
with directory structure intact. Other useful features of this
program is the ability to format a disk, make a boot disk, and
print you directory tree. With the registered version you also
get a backup scheduler so you can set it up to back up your files
automatically.
All in all one of those must have programs. After all it has won
several awards and recommendations including being a finalist for
ZDNet's Shareware Of The Year. The shareware version may be used
freely for 30 days. You can register this program with a credit
card via their toll free number or web page. You can also
register it through snail mail or CompuServe. (Note: Requires VB4
Runtime Module.)
