Download/HomepageTidy Disks cleans unneeded files off your hard
drive including files in cache folders. You don't have to be a
computer expert to use it because it comes with a predefined set
of file extensions and folders to clean. The novice user can
choose Quick Mode and then choose next then choose the drive and
click next then click Start Scanning. Tidy disk will
automatically search for files with *.tmp, ~*.*, *.~*, *.?$$,
*._dd, and *.chk extensions and cache, cache1, cache2, cache3,and
cache4 folders. You can !will be freed. Once you click on delete
it will show you the progress and a window will pop up when it is
done telling you how much disk space was freed. When you click
Finish the program closes.
Now for all of you who want a little more control of what is
deleted you can choose the Custom option. There you can add or
delete the file extension or wildcard you want included and the
folders you want included. (You can do the same thing by clicking
on properties of Quick Mode). The next screen in custom lets you
set minimum and maximum file size and you can type in a date if
you want to delete files older than a certain date. After that
the rest of is the same as the Quick Search option starting w All
in all a very good and simple to use program. Right now I have a
program for deleting unneeded files and a program for cleaning my
caches and this program will allow me to do it all at once and
thus clean up even more room on my hard drive because I can
remove these 2 programs. The only thing I didn't like about this
program is that it didn't give me the browse option under
customize or properties. The shareware version provides a 30 day
evaluation.
