Wetsock is one of the most useful and
fascinating programs that I have seen. It is downloaded as a Zip
file, then installed when you run it for the first time. All you
have to do is pick a place out of 350 choices in the USA and
request that Wetsock be put in the start menu. When you next look
in the system tray there is an icon which describes the actual
weather.
If you want more detail, all you have to do is click on the icon
and it gives you a description of the current weather with a
complete forecast and weather warnings. You can schedule the
frequency of updates -- in an unregistered version you can get 3
updates a day, when registered you can get unlimited updates. And
all of this goes on in the background. It will dial up, get the
report and leave if you are not using your modem. If you are on
line, it automatically goes to the weather source without your
knowing.
It is handy all of the time and a real blessing in times of
dangerous weather
