Velago, S.A.
Velago, which
comes from the Spanish "Veleros del Lago" (sailboats of the lake) was
established by Robert Dayton (American) and Felipe Marin (Guatemalan) in 1995. A 20 year
friendship and a mutual love of sailing led them to start Velago in order to promote the
sport and experience of sailing in Guatemala. The first step was the purchase of a large
catamaran and the construction of small boats in order to establish a day sailing/charter
business and sailing school on Lake Atitlan in the highlands of Guatemala.. At the same
time, using it's own and other vessels, Velago developed a charter and brokerage business
based in the Rio Dulce, serving the magnificent Belizean barrier reef, the second largest
barrier reef in the world. The brokerage business, which got it's start on the net by
listing and selling one of Velago's own boats, now includes listings our listing agents
and partners, Jerry Jordan and Lorelei
Kusin, reside on the river and are available to show listings
anytime of vessels currently moored on the Rio Dulce, the Caribbean's premier fresh water
hurricane hole.
To the prospective buyer Velago offers not only complete service boat sales (bank and
title management, vessel survey, demonstration, etc), the access to great boats at great
prices in a great place to sail and travel.
We can also arrange all or your travel needs so that when you come to see and demo any
listing, you don't have to worry about the details of transport and housing. Due to our
experience, we feel that we can answer virtually any inquiry you may have about the area
and it's current situation. Feel free to contact us.
Best of all, the heart of the world's second largest barrier reef is
just 30 miles away from these cruise ready boats.!!! |
