With a spinning bulls eye residing in your
toolbar, X-Ray Vision protects you from anything anybody can do
to you unknowingly on the internet.
Java applets, ActiveX controls, cookies, and even plug-ins all
come through your modem and run on your hard drive just as surely
as your operating system does. The only difference functionally
between many of these and a virus is that they have been made
with good intent. However, since Active-X and java programming
has skyrocketed this past year, a malevolent code will likely
cross your path soon.
Anti-ActiveX programs will within a year or two become just as
essential to every computer as antivirus programs are now. The
dilemma here is that, unlike viruses, these web technologies can
be incredibly useful. Fortunately, X-Ray Vision can give you
early protection while allowing for your laissez-faire surfing
habits..
Besides being easy, pleasant to use, and available now, X Ray
Vision has a step up over the competition by being highly
customizable. You can specify your default restrictions to a T or
make them stricter or looser for any particular site.
The manual is thorough enough to constitute an education in the
complicated technology. which I found valuable. Fortunately,
there is a beginning tutorial that cuts to the chase for just
what you need to know to get started.
The program has with no incompatibilities with the latest
browsers, which is remarkable considering it monitors everything
going in and out of them. From experience, I can say that this
stability is not generally shared by other anti-ActiveX programs.
The graphics, always a sore spot with me and shareware, are
excellent, and the tutorial and manual are very easy to read.
OK, on the downside: say goodbye to your cache and any efficiency
or anything else that you may receive from it. Say goodbye to
cookies (many would say with good riddance) and the passwords or
shopping carts that they enable, unless you go into the program
and customize permissions for that site.
In short, I would buy this program. X-Ray Vision is an
innovative, intelligent, and easy-to-use product in a field that
will get crowded very soon. It deserves prominence now and is
adaptive enough to stay there when the competition rolls in.
