ZipEZ is a program that will create a new, Add to
an existing, Extract from a, View the contents of a, Delete from
a, and Create a self extracting Zip file. When the program opens
you choose one of the six items above then click next. It will
walk you thru each thing you need to do step by step. Then close
automatically.
If you choose Create a new zip file you can attach a password to
it so only those who know the password can unzip the file. If you
choose to add to an existing zip file you get the choice of Add
file(s) to, Update the, or Freshen the zip file. Those are the
only ones that really had extra choices but if you don't
understand there is a help button in every window.
Experienced users don't despair there is an advanced button so
you don't have to do the step by step. Also in the step by step
under Preferences you will find the Zip/Unzip Options. Zip
Options include setting the compression, Path information (Store
Full Path, Store Relative Path Name, or No Path Names) and
Recurse Path, Use MS-DOS File Names, Include System and Hidden
Files, and or Multivolume Zip. Unzip Options include Extract
Overwrite Options (Prompt, Update, and New, or Overwrite) It is
only fair to say that this program is still in beta which means
that they are still working out all the bugs. The only bug I
found was when I used a password to make a new zip file when I
went to unzip it after I checked Use Password it wouldn't let me
enter the password so I couldn't unzip it. I am also hoping they
add an install wizard so we don't have to extract then install.
While it is in beta though it is free.
