Basketball 1997 (called BBALL 97) is a very impressive sports sim game. You get to choose your favorite team, and there's also a USA96 Team, and an All-Time team which increases the creativity and overall fun of the game. The game says that you have the ability to choose your favorite players as well, but that is not allowed by the NBA players union, and there's a few letters added to the names of each player, but its not too bad.

Overall I'd say that this game is better in price and performance than NBA Jam, but not as good graphic wise, and its better overall than College Slam, but not as good as NBA Action 98. BBALL 97 is kinda the Happy Medium in basketball games, and since there's not a WHOLE LOT of basketball games for the PC out there, I'd say that this one's worth a shot anytime.
