Cross Numbers is fill-in type puzzles using numbers. In case you don't
know what a Fill-In puzzle is it is like a crossword puzzle but instead of clues it gives
you a list of words or numbers that you place in the crossword grid. The letters or
numbers themselves help you determine exactly where the words or numbers go. You place the
numbers by dragging them from the right to where you think they go in the grid.
The way the game is set up on the computer it is even more challenging because it only
shows you one 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 digit number at a time. You can cycle through each of
sets one at a time though until you come to the one you think will fit. An example is if
you need an 8 digit number that has the number 5 as the next to last digit then you can
cycle through the 8 digit numbers until you find the one that matches your criteria but
remember there may be more than one that has 5 as the seventh digit. The game keeps track
of how many of each digit set is left like 10 3 digit numbers and so on. For those of you
who think that cycling through the numbers would be too confusing you can always print
them up and solve them on paper.
This game can be pretty addictive. It is easy to use and the help file explains what to do
for those who are new to these type of puzzles. The shareware version has 5 of the 32,000
puzzles of the registered version. Compared to the price of the fill-in puzzle books this
game is a bargain.
