Hotmail's a great web-based mail service -- but wouldn't it be nice to
know if there's anything in your Inbox worth the fuss of logging in for? Aha. Hotmail
Notify is just the ticket. And from the success of this fabulous freeware app, it looks
like many Hotmail users have snapped it up, so this latest version rolls in some
improvements that folks have asked for. Version 1.55 adds header viewer improvements,
fixes a few minor burbles -- and the best news is, it's still FREE!
Configure it to check for new mail, automatically or just when you double-click the tray
icon, for one of multiple accounts. Mondo cool! Whenever there's new mail, the icon
flashes with the number of messages waiting. Just click, and a pop-up viewer shows you the
headers for the account(s) you've asked it check. Click again on a header to read a
message. If you like audio notification, you can opt for that too. You don't have to fire
up your browser or even login the account. Very fast and simple.
Now, Hotmail is the only mail this thing checks, but uh ... is there anyone who doesn't
have at least ONE Hotmail account these days? Hotmail's one of the faster, better-featured
web-based services (even now that Microsoft runs it...), and Hotmail Notify saves you a
whole bunch of time checking up on your account activity. This is well worth it, even if
it weren't free.
