Are you worried about the New Year? Do you download every Y2K checker you can find, even though you've passed a dozen times? If you don't do you know someone who does?
Well, heres something that will actually make you laugh about Y2K. This is the kind of program you want to sneak on someone else's computer, someone like the person mentioned above. Tell them you left a shortcut on the desktop, and all they have to do is click on it-BUT don't stand too close after they do!
When you click on the shortcut, you get what looks like a for real Y2K checker, and for real yucky MS Gray dialog, and for real stuff written inside. It tells you that The Y2k checker is now running tests on your computer, and on the right is a legend of what color means checking, and what color means failed, and what color means passed. On the left is a list, you know one that starts out with Keyboard imput, mouse & peripherals, Hardware clock and BIOS, Monitor & display. When it checked the mouse, the cursor did some strange things, but it's very quiet and you almost might miss that, but when it checks the monitor, the screen goes to white and strobes a few times. Then it checks your floppy drive and it's components, then it goes to the calendar date. At this point you get an offical looking report type list, so that you can watch while it changes all your y's to k's. At this point it runs the CD-ROM test, which means that the CD pops in and out about 4-5 times, last it checks your sound card and speakers. Now it sits and howls for about 3 minutes, then it fails the sound card. If you look for a reason, it tells you that it has a vertical alignment.
At this point the computer laughs manically, tells you it was all a joke and goes away. But beware, don't try to stop it half way through, it just starts over!
