Download/HomepageDuplic8 is a duplicate file finder and management program. It's very easy to install and use.
All you have to do is select the drive and/or folders you want Duplic8 to look through and click on "Search". Duplic8 scrolls through all files within the search area, comparing files by size and/or file name, and lists the files it believes are duplicates in the white box below. You can then determine if they truly are duplicates, and, if they are, what you want to do with them. You can choose to ignore them, delete them completely off your hard drive, or send them to the recycle bin.
Having the program search your entire hard drive is very time-consuming. I have an 850 MB hard drive (not all that large now) and it took approximately 10 minutes (about 600 MB of my hard drive is in use). And certainly you have to be very careful when deleting files; some files Duplic8 says are duplicates really are files of the same name and size, but associated with different programs. However, it saved me about 10 MB of hard drive space in duplicate setup files I didn't even know were there!
For the money, this is a wonderful program.
