Download/HomepageYou know those web pages that seem to take forever to download. Well not anymore, Speedtec is a neat little program that does what the author says it will.
Easy to install and easy to set up with a clear and easy to understand help file. Just select your type of adaptor and then choose either the Auto Optimize button or enter your own settings for MTU(or use the Maximise MTU button, registered version only), RWIN, TTL and NDI cache(TTL and NDI cache only available in the registered version). Don't worry if you don't know what they are it's all in the help file with recommended settings.
There is also a Hosts editor where you can enter the names of your favourite sites and Speedtec will remember the IP address instead of having to go to a DNS server every time.
Once set, reboot and go surf. What a difference! I tried it on a previously excrutiatingly slow site and it was like someone had shoved a redhot poker up it's rear end. Believe me I've tried many of the optimisers but nothing to my knowledge beats this.
I run Netsonic (see Win 95/98 reviews) which has it's own optimiser and it is very, very fast, but switch off the optimiser in Netsonic, and combine it with Speedtec with the Hosts Editor disabled and you're not surfing you're powerboat racing
