As usual, these programs are sneaky-the minute they hear that I have AOL, all the rules I just read are changed, thrown out the window and I have to start over. Sometimes I feel like I'm supposed to be ashamed of having AOL. Well, I WON'T! I like AOL! So there!
Ok, since this isn't a review of AOL, back to Talky Mail. I didn't seem to be getting anywhere, [so I haven't got a firm grip on what the heck is a POP-a lot of people don't!] Finally I went to the web, and guess what? AOL users need to download another little program to go with this program, it's called enetbot-this is so I can list myself in that POP catagory as aol.enetbot.com. [What is wrong with AOL? just plain AOL? Now I don't want to get off on a rant here.....]
It didn't work. There were a dozen error codes, and what it boiled down to was that it didn't work, couldn't connect, maybe it's AOL's fault, check with our technical help-first for this program, then for that?
Maybe I shouldn't get annoyed, but I do. If my ISP was Acme ISP, like Wiley Coyote, then I could understand having all kinds of problems, but AOL is a large ISP. I don't know what number they rate, but I'm sure they are in the top 5. If programs are going to be for this or that, but NEVER them, then it should be marked in the title-say Talky Mail hates AOL mail program. And if a program needs additional stuff to work, if the author intends to sell many, he should add it all up front. What if you didn't read this review, and what if you didn't know a lot about computers? And you found this program, maybe you would know how to find the announcement that it needed another program to work [haha]. I thought this program was supposed to be fun, not work!
