I am completely impressed with WinOptimizer 99 Deluxe. I've reviewed several system utilities now, and I can honestly say that WinOptimizer 99 Deluxe is the best so far.
Downloading and installing WinOptimizer was uneventful. To use the software, you have to register on-line at ashampoo's website; when you register, you're given a temporary registration number which allows you 10 uses of WinOptimizer 99 Deluxe. The graphic interface is clean and pleasant. The "welcome" screen allows you to choose the function you want the software to perform. The first, "scans your system for redundant files and cleans up your Windows Registry"; this is an automated function, set for novice users (when it comes to system changes, I am a novice user). The software also provides for those experienced users by giving them complete control over WinOptimizer's search and cleanup functions. You can also search for duplicate DLL files in your system and the software warns that you must be an experienced user, as, "Undesirable effects are quite possible if you don't know what you're doing!" (Translated into plain English *LOL* if you don't know what you're doing, DON'T!). WinOptimizer will also search for duplicate files, other than DLL files, with strong warnings about deleting so-called "duplicate" files.
Even though I use a registry cleaner regularly (installing and uninstalling the sheer quantity of software that I do, it's necessary for system performance), WinOptimizer found several registry entries that were unnecessary and leftover from previously uninstalled programs. WinOptimizer simply scans on the first run and then shows you what it finds: It gives YOU the final say as to whether the entries are deleted. I like this feature very much, because if I have any doubt at all, I don't delete anything! (I've deleted things on a couple of occasions and ended up really, seriously regretting it!).
WinOptimizer 99 Deluxe is everything I look for in a system utility: Clean and easy to follow, thorough, but cautious. For the reasonable price, I highly recommend it.
