This game has quite a unique twist. We've all played Tetris and all it's
variations, haven't we? You know, move the falling object around the screen, rotate it,
line them up by color or whatever, etc. Well, in Bubbles, the bubbles are going upwards!
And believe me, that throws you off just enough to turn this into a whole new game.
Another totally different feature is that instead of just piling up these bubbles, they
need to go in pods, and the color bubble needs to match the pod color. As the levels go
higher, sometimes the pods are blocking each other, which means you have to get the first
color before you can access the one behind it. And the bubbles never come out separately,
they always come out in pairs, which means you can line it up in the for the correct color
on one side, but you have to watch the other side; which will break off and continue on up
and that might mess you up. The level ends when you clear all the pods, which happens when
you put at least 3 of the same color bubbles under it.
If you get the wrong color bubble under a pod, or for the extra bubbles which are pililng
up on the top of the screen, you can make them disappear by matching up 4 bubbles of the
same color. Also, once in a while a tack will come up, and that will pop one bubble. The
shareware version has 6 levels, the registered version has 100 levels, plus more music,
more graphics, warp features, and more.
After you play the first level a couple of times, [to get used to the bubbles going up]
you might say, 'oh this is a kids game cause it's too easy'. Well you'll have to shut up,
cause that first level is just to get you started. I am still stuck on level 5, I'm sure
I'll get it sooner or later, [thank God there is a save feature!] but I decided to take a
break and write this review-before trying it yet again.
This game is definitely a keeper, it's challenging, [*%#@&$!*^] the kids can play,
cause it's very easy to learn, and it has good graphics and great music. I have got to
stop finding these really good puzzle games to review, I've "pulled" out so much
of my hair, due to frustration, that I'm going bald!
