Webkeys Prowler is a program that will keep users from viewing certain
content in Internet Explorer. You can assign logons for different people. Each logon
consists of username and password and lets you choose whether the user is a child (all
ages), preteen (under 14), teen (teenager), adult (adult content), or x-rated (explicit
violence/sexual content). It will also let you add sites and add words for further
blocking. When a user tries to access a web page that might contain undesirable content a
page will be displayed saying that "Prowler's Virtual V-Chip suspects (url) may be
unsuitable for (user)." It also gives you the choice to Return to previous page,
logon as other user, Review Advisor settings, or Help.
This program was easy to install. You need to remember after installation to click on the
Webkeys Prowler Advisor Services icon and change the Advisor password. The default
password is Advisor. You can set it up where there isn't a password for the advisor but
that would probably defeat the whole purpose. This is also where you set up users, add
sites, and add words. This is a great program and to make it even better it is free. It
didn't slow down my browsing any that I noticed except when I wanted to view a block page
then I would have to logon as advisor or somebody who could access the page and then click
refresh to view the page. A small price to pay though to protect my children. You also
have to remember to log off if you do that. If nobody logs on then all
"unsuitable" pages are blocked by default.
