This is truly a professional fax program. Functionality is king, although
sometimes overwhelming for me since I seldom need to fax anything. Is there a learning
curve? Yes, and quite steep. But once you do learn it the results are great. Expect to
spend at least a day or two to practice with all the features that are packed into this
little program.
When you first install FaxMail you will need to let it attempt to find your modem.
Unfortunately the program failed to find the modems on both machines I used for the
evaluation. But if you know the COM Port your modem is on it finds it pretty easy. Next,
you set up your fax list which, when completed, will make your faxing chores very easy.
When you fax you can monitor the status of the transmission and even create a log of
events in case something doesn't work out right and you cannot figure it out. The log can
be saved and printed or e-mailed to Electrasoft for help. Also, an extensive help file and
fault-code list is included with the program.
If you do a moderate amount of faxing and need a good, stable program for this, consider
FaxMail for Windows. There is a 30-day evaluation period and plenty of nag screens to
remind you to register your version.
