Velago, S.A.
The Rio Dulce
(Sweetwater River, in English) is the outlet to the Caribbean from Guatemala's largest
lake, Lake Izabal. On a map, find on the northeast coast of Guatemala the bight of land
where Honduras, Guatemala and Belize nearly join. The town of Livingston is on the coast,
and all of the some 150+ cruising vessels which call Rio Dulce home are berthed some 26 lm
up river near where the road to Tikal crosses the Rio Dulce.
The "Rio" has recently been discovered both by the international boating
community and also by wealthy Guatemalan nationals, many of whom are building extensive
and expensive vacation homes on the Rio. It's climate is tropical, and nearly all services
are available. For more information on any aspect of this part of the world, feel free to
contact us with your questions or regarding your particular needs.
Best of all, the heart of the world's second largest barrier reef is
just 30 miles away from these cruise ready boats.!!! |
