Junkies Who
S - Z
Who are They?
I am a 41 year old mother of 2 boys (13 & 8) living in
Melbourne, Australia (born in Hobart, Tasmania). Worked in the finance industry
for 13 years, then returned to study and completed studies in PC repair,
software development, tech & user support, small business management, &
multimedia. I have worked in software implementation & training & also taught
html. I owned a small business for a while selling/repairing/upgrading computers
and training clients in various areas of computing. Also ran a computer
store/ISP help centre for a while, and am also a medical typist/receptionist.
Personal things: I breed Budgies & Cockatiels, have 2 Toy Poodles and a Great
Dane X, 3 Chooks, Quails, 2 Indian Ringnecks and a Yabbie & gGldfish. In our
house we love camping, dirt bike riding, craying, fishing - anything to do with
living in the great outdoors.
"15 year old male, residing in Scotland. Listening to music is how I
spend\waste most of my time. I love black metal, doom metal, dark ambient, classical,
stuff with emotion and atmosphere. Well, that's all. Oh, and check out my website at http://www.doomed.co.uk !"
Greetings y'all! Me in a nutshell...an antebellum Southern belle trapped
in the body of a
Yankee. I live in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts with two rabbits, a male significant
other,
and am surrounded by incredibly nosy neighbors (They actually go through our mail and
recycling
bins. No, I'm not paranoid. Just observant.)
I work for an international computer and business solutions consulting company as a
Communications Coordinator. I have my own web site and I'm a System Hostess (can I offer
you a
Twinkie?) and internet guru on a local BBS. I am also a member of the local and national
chapters of the House Rabbit Society (yes, it's a real society).
I've always been fairly opinionated (in other words, I'm always right!) so naturally I
jumped
at the chance to give my two cents about the various shareware programs I come across. I'm
always looking for new programs to try, especially if they have to do with the internet,
organizing, communications, or general business programs and applications. If there's
something
you would like me to review, give me a holler at shartlen@sprynet.com.
I am a 51 year old male living in
Cardiff, Wales, UK, heavily into
computers and IT generally. I
design and publish web sites http://simbawebdesign.cjb.net
, fix and build PCs as well as supply Tech support to a lot of people who
suddenly become “friends” when they learn of my skills !!.
I would like to rewrite some of the
“Help Files” I have seen in some software as the English language doesn’t
seem to be the strong point of the authors.
Anybody wanting to take me up on that offer can contact me at s.baillie@virginnet.co.uk
Any software companies who want
products reviewed or beta tested can also reach me at the above address.
I also have a home page where you can browse some of the pieces I have
done for Shareware Junkies. You can find it at http://sbail51.bizland.com/reviews
I joined Shareware Junkies to assist users in
their choice of software. I give
honest reviews and am equally firm in praising and denigrating software.

a biography, huh? Well I feel a tad silly now, and besides I just found
the closest thing anyone will see of a pic of without my spending a pile, [need scanner,
good photo program and one of those cameras that make film obsolete-take 150 pics, plug
camera into pc, download, and go take more pics] but oops, digress.
On the other hand, I guess that is part of a biography of me. I never can keep all my lil
ducks in a row, that last lil duckie wanders in circles, stops for anything bright and
shiny, like a magpie, and talks to flowers, rocks and trees.
I used to tend bar, and when people said, "Stormy, you don't got your
"shit" together" I would always say, sure I do, its all in a pile, stashed
under the pinball machine. One night when I got to work I discovered the pinball machine
was missing....and I ain't been the same since.
My name is Stormy, I'm married to a man, he's married to a newspaper. I can't say my age
out loud, but I have finally got to where I can write it; I'm 50. [and y'all watch-anyone
says they don't understand why that bothers me-will be a man-betcha]
I used to drive semi truck, long haul, in the vernacular, "hauled garbage into Hunts
point, New York" [garbage is produce] I miss driving almost as much as my youth and
my figure. But, I don't drink coffee, and a girl has to wake up somehow, right? I played
games, and when I could hit what I was aiming at-I was awake and ready to go.
Can't drive anymore, [long story you DON'T want to hear, trust me] [snicker] One day
someone gave me a commodore 64. Ever since I have been like an accident looking for
somewhere to happen; you see I'm not "computer-friendly" and I can sit with a
manual under each arm and one clenched in my teeth and get into more trouble.
I've finally made it to one step past being so green I need to be watered every day; and I
was wandering around some freebie links, tryig madly to figure out why I couldn't find the
site I had been on not 5 minutes ago [aol booted me off line and I went right back to the
first link I had started with...but the next link had been stolden-honest it was here
before-where did it go? I was getting mor and more mad and frustrated.....when suddenly I
saw a link for a site called....Sharewarejunkies.com......and I heard hosannas...and the
angels sang...and I feel so peaceful-so relaxed-so like-like I WAS COMING HOME!
Well, now youse guys are stuck with me and your all in trouble! I'm fat, ugly, and over
the hill, [oh come on, would you believe me if I said I was beautiful? how about if I
added the magic words-trust me!] anyway even though I'm all them things, I can sit at my
computer for 16 hours at a time...can't walk afterwards, but I can fall over pretty good.
No pic, just an animated gif I found, can't afford pics, must save my money Interplay has
put out "The Forgotten Realms archives", $29.99 all12 of the best games designed
ever. Eye of the beholder3, well you'd have to be from Daggerdale or Myth Drannor, maybe
know Elminster, To know that its sorta sad. There will never be another game as good as
eye3, but I keep searching. I'm only a level 20 mage, maybe in a few more levels, I'll
find the right spell and find another game thats even just as good.
If anyone knows of one, I'd like to hear about it; in the mean time, my silliness has wore
down, so I'll either go review something, download something and run the ever present risk
of locking up my computer again, or find a game I can kill something. Thanks for having me
guys!
I am a 40 something mother of two teenagers, living in Cheshire, England.
For a living I manage
a training centre, providing applications software training to local companies. I use
Windows
95 and thanks to my sad addiction to downloading and experimenting with shareware, have a
huge
phone bill.
I like playing with HTML and graphics, and enjoy writing, so have a home page full of daft
stories, advice about such riveting things as aromatherapy and computer virus scares, and
some
corny jokes. Go see it at:
http://www.amaze.demon.co.uk/
Best of all, I like to talk. Chatting on Powwow, exchanging mails, discussing the world on
IRC,
are all among my favourite things. When not hunched over a keyboard, I do go for the
occasional
country walk, read a book, have a swim or experiment with obscure recipes on my
long-suffering
husband and kids, most of which the dog ends up eating.
Despite being by nature a gentle soul, I do take great pleasure in blasting strange pink
alien
monsters into very small, bloody pieces with a sawn-off shotgun, preferably accompanied by
agonized screams. Yes, I am a gamer too!!
You can mail me on :

Ok, a little about myself, Well........I am a 23 y/o mother of two,
Jennifer and Kara ages 4 and 2, I also have been happily married for four and a half
years. For the last year and a half I've been a stay at home mom, or domestic engineer as
I like to call myself! : ) Before that I was a phlebotomist, big name little job, I drew
blood. Along with that, I also became part receptionist, and when our clinic updated their
computer systems, and got all new Gateway computers with Windows 95 and their own data
entry system I went nuts! I fell in love with computers all over again. Two weeks later, I
was off to buy my own and immediately got Internet addicted. My cousin (a programmer)
helped me with all the necessary downloading equipment and I was off, before I new it, I
had downloaded so much stuff my memory was dragging, so I also learned how to successfully
delete programs. I wish I could say I've been computer literate my whole life, but the
truth is I've had very little exposure to them before now, besides the Apples we played
Oregon Trail on, and a Texas Instrument my brother and I used more like an Atari. I do
have a computer back ground which I am sad I didn't take advantage of, my Uncle, Dale
Holmgren is President and Co-founder of Born Enterprises in Minneapolis, MN if anyone has
heard of them. My cousin that I mentioned earlier, now programs for them, as well as
another one of my cousins and an uncle ( I think!). My future plans include taking some
programming classes and maybe taking advantage of my uncle, a little! : )
Well, my goals for Shareware Junkies, is just to explore the Freeware/Shareware and find
the easiest, less complicated programs for people like me with Shareware needs and not
necessarily a whole lot of experience. I can be emailed at: dakota_rose@email.com.

Tony McGregor
36 years old father of 2.
I live in TN. I enjoy fishing, computers, and auto racing.
I have been in the military for a little over eight years now, and owe my
love for computers to
the military. While I was stationed in Texas I became a self-professed BBS junkie. I would
spend hours online chatting, playing "door" games, and you guessed it,
downloading shareware.
A few years ago I got stationed here in Europe. Shortly after arriving here in Europe I
discovered the Internet ("you mean it's like a thousand BBSs all wired together? I'm
there!").
It was all over after that. I spent most of my free time hunched over my keyboard staring
bleary-eyed at my monitor as my modem flashed happily along. In fact it was on the
Internet
that I met my wife Tracie. If you will look elsewhere on my page you will see that she is
a
Junkie too! Now that I have found her I am ready to move on to the next phase of my life.
I
am currently working on finishing my college degree (a long eight years in the making),
getting
some professional computer certifications, and moving on to the next phase. When me and
Tracie
are not hunched over our computers we are taking advantage of our assignment here in
Europe.
We love to travel, gourmet cooking, and hope to go camping in the Black Forest in the near
future.
I'm a recent M.B.A. grad from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
Graduate school was the place where I realized that I absolutely HAD to have a computer to
survive. Being a college student means being "thrifty", and so the interest in
Shareware
evolved. Although I bought the computer to write papers and the like, I ended up spending
hours upon hours "surfing the net" and actually met my husband Tim on the
Internet (who is
also a Junkie!). I graduated with my masters degree, we got married, and I joined him in
Belgium (yes, Belgium!) where he is stationed with the U.S. Army at Supreme Headquarters
Allied
Powers Europe. I now teach telecommunications and other computer courses at the University
of
Maryland European Division. Tim and I love spending time playing on our two-computer
network
and fighting for time on the Internet.

I am freelance programmer from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It all started in
1988 when my dad
bought the 8088 PC for my Christmas present. Since then I have changed the PC until what
it is
now. A Pentium 120MHz with 32 MB RAM, a 4x CD-ROM and a Zip drive for my backup. The other
stuff is a sound card, speaker, modem and printer.
I discovered the Internet early this year and have been using it everyday for the past one
year.
I think I am a shareware junkies because I can't let a great shareware pass without
downloading it. MY motto is "Have Shareware, Will Download" something like
"Have Gun, Will Travel".
As you can see from my review, I am also an Access Freak. That is why my homepage has the
name:
"Trisha!! The Access Freak". I love Access in particular and databases in
general.
I am a digital artist working in 2D, 3D and easing into VRML as well as
artwork for game developers. I also do graphic design work for web sites -banners, logos
and special effects. My site has awards that I have designed including the most sought
after "Golden Angel" and "Bite Me" awards. I try out so many new
programs before I buy them so this is a good place for me to share what I evaluate. Visit
and apply for an award

Well, back to virtual reality!!

He also has attended the Shareware Industry Conference for the past three
years. This year he will also attend
The European Shareware

My name is Zonia J. Heath, I am 34 years old and live way out in a little
place called One Creek Valley but my address says Finley, OK. I was born in Dallas and
spent most of my life in Texas but moved here from Titusville, FL about 5 years ago. I
really like the area even though the closest Wal-mart is an hour away and I have to find
all my computer stuff via online or mail order. I live in a log home with my husband Steve
and my youngest son Kent. I got into computers 17 years ago when I joined the USAF.
However by the time I got out of the Air Force I was thoroughly sick of anything with a
keyboard and vowed never to touch anything with a keyboard again. My mom kept trying to
get me to mess with her computer but I wouldn't touch it. One day I came home and found a
desk and a Tandy 1000 in my livin room compliments of my mother. It sat there untouched
for 6 months before I finally got really bored one day and turned it on. I was lost after
that and now years later I still spend 12+ hours a day on my computer which is now a Cyrix
5x86. I really enjoy checking out new programs for the computer and get asked a lot what
is the best program for doing a certain task. I also get a lot of "do you know how to
do this task with this program?" Thank goodness for standards which enable me to
answer questions on programs I don't have. Anyway since I spend so much time checking out
programs I figured I would join the shareware junkies in hope that my reviews might help
somebody
"Writing software reviews for you has launched me into a full flown
business of writing. People who have read my reviews on your site has contacted me to do
writing for them. I write articles, essays, help files and so much more. I am currently
making about $2,000.00 a month doing these contracts. I really appreciate the start you
have give me."
